Honey Recipes

There are no chefs in the Mullins family. We live a hectic life like most people, so quick and easy is best. We think you’ll like these recipes, many of which we borrowed from the internet and tweaked to make them fit our taste and our honey. Feel free to adjust them any way you like. Then share your favorite recipes on our website.

Spicy Honey Topped Pizza

Use your favorite pizza crust and top with sauce, cheese, and herbs. Cook and add your favorite spicy pepper flakes. Then drizzle with Bee Great Honey to taste.

Cheese Platter

Serve your favorite cheeses, cured meats, fruits, nuts and crackers along with a variety of Bee Great Honey Spreads. Yep, it’s that easy to entertain!

Hot or Cold Drinks

Add any of our honey spreads to tea, coffee, or steamed milk. For a twist, add equal parts coffee and your choice of milk with any of our honey spreads and serve cold or hot! Add your favorite liquor, if you’d like.

Almond Apple Tart

Select your favorite pie crust or puff pastry from the refrigerator section of the grocery store. Roll it out. Soften a package of cream cheese and then mix it together with almond, cinnamon, or chocolate honey spread. Spread the mixture on the pie crust or puff pastry evenly. Add a layer of thinly sliced apples and sprinkle with shaved almonds. Bake at 35 minutes at 400 degrees. Cool and enjoy with your favorite vanilla ice cream.

Stir Fry

Choose your favorite frozen stir fry vegetables from the freezer section of your grocery store. Heat and discard any liquid. While still hot, add ginger-lemon or orange honey spread to taste. Add left over chicken, fish, or pork if desired.

Chicken Salad

Pick up a whole backed chicken at the grocery. Pull off all the meat in bite-sized pieces and add to a bowl with ½ cup celery and ½ cup peanuts or cashews. Mix together ½ cup orange or ginger-lemon honey spread with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. Mix all ingredients and serve cold or hot on rice, lettuce, chow Mein noodles, or on a bun.

Peppered Indiana Whiskey Barrel Sauce for Salmon, Chicken, Pork, or Steak

Mix ½ cup Indiana Whiskey Barrel Honey, ¼ cup olive oil, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ cup soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon fresh ground pepper. Mix all ingredients well. Cook meat your favorite way (e.g., baked, grilled, pan fried, etc.). Pour off any excess liquids from meat. Let meat rest while you heat glaze in saucepan. Do NOT boil or overheat. Use thermometer to heat glaze to 110 degrees. Pour glaze over meat and serve. Great as a sauce on the side for dunking. (Make it vegan and pour glaze over grilled or roasted veggies of your choice!).

Honey Beer Bread

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup honey or flavored honey spread

1 bottle (12 ounces) beer

4 tablespoons (half stick) butter, melted

Ok, this is a real recipe where you have to measure out ingredients – but is so fast and easy you won’t mind.  It is a huge, huge hit at every party we go to, and it is extremely versatile. Mix everything EXCEPT the butter in a bowl with a mixer. Pour half the melted butter in the bottom of the pan evenly. Pour in the batter and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until a knife comes out clean from the center of the bread. Try different beers and different flavored honey spreads until you find a combination you like. Any good pilsner with orange honey spread is delicious, and a dark beer with chocolate honey spread is a great contrasting bread on a platter. Just make two different loaves and arrange the slices on the tray. Fun for kids and the alcohol bakes out so they can eat it too. Fun!

Honey Garlic Noodles

Cook your favorite pasta and add fresh garlic and honey to taste. Make a meal by adding your favorite veggies, chicken, fish, or pork.

Fruit with Vanilla Rum Barrel Honey Whipped Cream

Add fruit to your favorite prepared tart crust, pieces of cake, lady fingers, or granola. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with Vanilla Rum Barrel Honey.

Ginger-Lemon or Orange Rice

Add Ginger-Lemon or Orange honey spread to your favorite rice for a great side-dish.

Breakfast Options

Try our honey spreads with pancakes, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, bagels, and toast.

Flavored Honey Butters

This is the most fun for a party! Simply mix ½ cup honey or honey spread with a dash of sea salt into a stick of softened butter. Make several and set them out with your favorite bread, crackers, or muffins. Cinnamon honey butter goes great on sweet potatoes, and ginger-lemon honey butter is fantastic on salmon and pork!

Vanilla Rum Barrel Honey and Peanut Butter Truffles

This is another recipe that requires a little effort, but it is so fun and easy to make with kids. And, it is a major hit at parties!

¼ cup oats

½ cup peanut butter

¼ cup Vanilla Rum Barrel Honey

Pinch of salt

3 tablespoons dried coconut (We’re not coconut fans, so we leave this out)

Put the oats in a blender or food processor and grind until they resemble flour (or just use oat flour). Mix all the other ingredients with the powdery oats (EXCEPT the coconut) in a bowl with a mixer until it forms a dough. Roll the dough into balls a little smaller than the size of a walnut and roll the balls in coconut to coat the outside. Chill for 30 minutes in the fridge and enjoy! Makes about 15-20 balls. Smaller is better in our opinion. Easier for kids to eat and adults to eat in one bite.
